What is an Aussie husky mix?
An Aussie husky mix is a cross-breed between an Australian shepherd and a Siberian Husky. Because of the mix of two dogs, this dog can take a very unique looking appearance to the naked eye.
They can sometimes take one dominant color of one parent or the other and in some cases both.
You may see that some of them have one eye a certain color such as brown whilst the other color of I maybe blue. I’m talking literally one dog with two different colored eyes. If you’ve been looking into these dogs then it probably becomes very familiar for you to see.
Why all the mixed messages about this pup?
There has been a lot of controversy mixed breed of dogs and all of the new cross breeds that you may find in the current climate. Some say that certain genetics do not agree with each other and they must do so in order to make a well-bred dog.
I completely disagree as purebred dogs a long time ago were bred over Generations which gave him a more predictable outcome.
Because we are in a new age, and in an age of changes. I believe that things should be a little bit different in regards to how we approach the topic. Before we can take a deeper look at the Australian husky mix we must first look at their parents and their immediate characteristics.
This will give us a little more of a clearer understanding of the history behind these beautiful pups.
A brief understanding of the Australian shepherd?
The history of the Australian shepherd dates back 2 as early as the 1800s. The initial purpose for the breed of dog was based around herding livestock, particularly sheep during that time period. Although they go by the name of the Australian shepherd they are not, in fact, directly from Australia.
More so, back in the mid-1800s dogs migrated over to Australia from the United States. The reason that you may find they have the name of the Australian shepherd. Is that their ancestors which were the Basque shepherds originated from Australia.
Upside down logic
There’s a really interesting yet confusing story as everything is almost turned upside down. But I guess that’s a good analogy of logic.
Around the 1950s these dogs were used District dogs during many radio movies. This is when they mainly then established their popularity throughout the United States.
But though the dogs were referred to or commonly known as the Australian shepherd.
It wasn’t actually until 1993 when the American Kennel Club first made this official to the American public.
Because of the good sense of smell and highly intelligent brains, it was then more recently decided that these dogs would make good use of Service dogs.
Now in the millennium, you can find these dogs helping the less fortunate who may be visually impaired or mobility-impaired as well as many other circumstances too. They are also used as drug detection dogs as well as a rescue dog for certain requirements.
You may find that the color of the coats on an Australian shepherd may range from blue, red to black in some cases. It’s not uncommon to find them with a mixture of all three. They have a medium to long Coat that is very dense with straight hair.
Male and females can grow anywhere from 18 to 23 inches tall. With a weight of 35 to 55lbs for females, whilst the males weigh around 55 to 70lbs.
Generally, the Aussie Shepherd has a very high energy level which means they need to disperse lots of energy throughout the day. If this dog is not provided enough activities on a day-to-day basis then they can tend to stroll off and be mischievous from time to time.
it’s important to provide them with a stimulating day in order for them to behave at the best at all times.

What kind of temperament do huskies have?
Usually fun-loving and caring but can be quite mischievous from time to time as they have a lot of energy.
If their energy is not focused on the right activities then they can become very erratic or unsettled which will result in negative behavior. As of today they are still not recognized to be vicious or aggressive dogs are such.
But it is highly important that they are trained in the correct manner as they can become quite unwilling to follow commands in their adult life.
These dogs make great family dogs for families that are very outdoors. However, they create the complete opposite effect for families that are inside of an apartment for an urban environment.

Now that we understand a little more about both of the parents of an Aussie husky mix. we can now look a little deeper into the new hybrid pup. So next I will take you through everything you need to know about the Australian husky mix. Let’s dig in!
Assie Husky Appearance
The Aussie husky has a medium to show length fur coat. They generally have blue or brown eyes with an undefined mixture of colors. The Australian husky can adopt the appearance of either of the parent breeds. that means all of the above-mentioned colors could be a potential for this pup.
What I’ve recently seen is a mixture of the two, so you will find a lot of them to be a mix up of many different colors. It’s not uncommon for this dog to have blue eyes or brown eyes and some cases a mix of the two.
And the same goes for facial features and personalities too, but we would dig a little deeper into that later.
An Australian husky mix can grow to about 20 to 24 inches for a male, what’s the females will stand around 18 to 21 inches tall. Weights can also vary as a female can weigh between 35 to 55lbs and a male at 40 to 60lbs.
This dog may vary in appearance in many different ways, but one thing that you can be guaranteed is that there will be an adorable little puppy. Next, we look at when this breed came around so we can see the history behind the popular Australian husky mix.
If we look back at both of the parents we can see that their breeds dated back to some time ago. On one hand, we have the Australian shepherd and one hand which dates back to the early 1800s. And on the other, we have the husky which dates back to over 3000 years ago.
There’s no doubt that this dog could have been around for a period of up to 100 years ago. Whilst we do not have that information available to us at this current time. Again when we talk about this subject there is no concrete evidence as to when this book was first bread or made public.
Because this dog is the first breed of generation it is hard to determine exactly how they may potentially turn out.
The only thing we can do at present is mainly looking or focused on the behavior of their parents. This will give us a better understanding, or a clearer view of the potential characteristics of this puppy.
An immediate parent is a great way to look at the outcome of a dog’s behavior in general. Whilst you may have generic information available to you, it’s always important to look directly at the parents in order to get a clear understanding.
We can see that from the parents this dog is a very high energy loving and caring dog. so it is highly important for you to help them channel the energy into the writer activities in order for them to behave correctly.
This breed we need to take part in lots of exercise and many mentally stimulating tasks. A great program to start with is brain training for dogs, it’s an obedience training that helps you to train your dog from as young as 8 weeks old. Check out my review on the program for more details.

How often do these dogs need exercise?
This is a very high energy dog, so I would highly recommend that you take them out for a walk at least twice per day. Each time that you take them out for a walk, I would highly recommend that you tried to cover around 60 minutes per walk.
That can have read you out to around anywhere between 10 to 18 miles per week. Because of how much energy this dog as I think it’s really important for you to get them some stimulating toys.
Training the Aussie Husky mix
Very high energy dogs it is always recommended to provide stimulating activities. This doesn’t have to be expensive as it could be a simple game at home that you play with them. Or it could be a toy that provides the same stimulation throughout the day too.
Walks in the park and activities such as a park can provide this kind of stimulation. Any game that would potentially cause them to think such as hide and seek. will provide them with enough of a learning curve to keep them occupied for a while.
These dogs are genuinely easy to train as they love to follow instructions when having fun. but be careful with the fun as you will need to know where to draw the line.
This dog is for the outdoor type so if you’re the kind of person or family that goes out for regular drugs then this will be an ideal choice for you.
Is this a good breed to have around the family?
Yes, yes, and yes! This dog will be a great addition to your family. they genuinely have a loved to be part of a group. They enjoy feeling loved and taken part in group activities to. there has been no evidence as to say that they are difficult to get along with other dogs. so if you have any other pets then this is also a good option for you to explore.
If you are the type to spend a lot of time out of your house away from your pets, then you may want to rethink this option.
I personally would recommend an Aussie husky mix for a family who loves to stay home and go out for long walks on a regular basis. Last but not least, we’ll go through exactly where you can find a dog like this.

I recommend that you go and see a professional public breeder. Using private breeders can be more hassle than it’s worth. You can only get a full clarity that you’ve got a good end of the Stick By going to a recommended professional breeder.
