There’s no denying the fact that the Golden husky is certainly one of a kind.
This dog has become apparent in the most recent years and has absolutely astonished many dog lovers just like me.
After digging around, I was able to come across some interesting information that I’ll be sharing with you today.
If you’re on the fence about buying a new dog or just looking for some more information, then keep reading as I got the whole thing covered right here, right now!
First things first, and that means discussing exactly what these dogs are made up of. The following section will be discussing a little about the parents of the famous golden husky.
This beautiful breed comes from the commonly known golden retriever which originates from the early 1900s. That was originally bred for retrieving shot water flower for Lord Tweedmouth.
Golden Retrievers are also very popular dogs making it the third most popular dog here in the United States. I personally own a golden which is why I decided to call this blog, retrievers are us!
What's in this Guide?
The Siberian Husky Parent
The other participant that makes up a golden husky is the Siberian husky which originated back to around 3000 years ago. An initial use for a Siberian husky was found to be very helpful with pulling sleds through the Siberian winter’s.
They make fantastic companions and are very loyal and respectful to their parents. A Golden, on the other hand, is a very fun bubbly dog and enjoys taking part in mind-stimulating activities.
Golden Retrievers were originally bred from the yellow Retriever and the Tweed water spaniel which is now extinct. With all of the fantastic healthy strong characteristics, there is no doubt about it that this was going to be a strong aesthetically pleasing dog.
What is a husky golden retriever mix called
The name that you may hear commonly used to be referring to a golden husky is a goberian. This was first used or made public in the early 2000s. Some still refer to this dog like the Golden husky, but as with most mixed breeds, the AKC does not recognize this dog as an official breed.
If you’re trying to figure out exactly where the name goberian stems from. Then I have managed to figure out a decade of how they seem to be put together.
It’s not hard to figure it out
Not very difficult… but you can see the first part of the name is taken from the golden retriever. Which results in the first part of the name being G and O. and then the rest comes from the Siberian Husky.
The second part of the word Siberian results in ‘Berian’. And when you put them together if you get the word Goberian.
I found this to be the same for all of the other common breeds such as the German shepherd mix husky which is referred to as the Gerberian Shepsky. Really interesting how it’s done and for some time I did wonder of where these names were coming from.
The hardest part about a golden husky is the fact that you can find so many different colors shapes and sizes of them.
A great way to determine what you can expect from a specific puppy of 2 parents.
Is to simply look at the parents their side’s colors and all of the other specs to get a kind of ballpark figure or an idea of what the puppy will look like.
This can range from colors such as the following:
- black and white,
- brown and white,
- salt and pepper,
- black and brown,
- and golden
you can find this breed growing to sizes ranging of 20 – 24 inches tall, with a weight of 40 to 80lbs. Not exactly the type of dog that you would attempt to pick up when they’re fully grown.
From the research that I’ve made recently online, I can see that this dog first became public around the early 2000s. Although, as with most breeds they have been around for a much longer time, but only recorded publicly from dates that seem to be apparent.
You read the title correctly as I mean it when I say it that you will need to be other getting fit or willing to stay fit in order to maintain this dog. This does not go to say that this dog is high maintenance.
In order to keep them stimulated and will exercise then you will need to be covering about 12miles per week.
Which can average down to 60 minutes a day of walking? What’s this is not the most active that I’ve come across for walking dogs, it is certainly not for the faint Hearted. It’s always recommended that these dogs go to the family home that is very active and outdoors.
It’s good to get them outside from early on and also to help them to become more comfortable around other dogs in new people. If you do find yourself getting stuck with a problem such as aggressiveness.
Training a Goberian
Make sure that you get yourself a good training right from the start as there’s nothing worse than having an unruly dog.
You can also brush up your skills as a parent too by following the expert advice from a certified dog trainer.
A great training program I took a while back is called brain training for dogs. Inside you’ll get tons of info on how to train your dog and raise them in the right way to follow instructions and much more! You can even teach them some new tricks too. For a little more info on the program then you can check out the review that I wrote on how it went for me.
Activities to take part in
Some of the activities you will find a Goberian will enjoy most include walking, jogging, hiking, playing and trips to the dog park.
It’s always great to incorporate some training with some fun play for activities so you can provide a stimulating experience for them what they learn. I find that in most cases we all learn more when we are having fun.
How to get more information about a golden husky
It’s always nice to get a little broad overview of a topic that you’re looking into or tried to get information from. This is the reason why I made this a very generic post covering some of the broader topics about a golden husky.
However, for those of you who are looking for a little more in-depth information then I have the answer for you. I have previously written a post of where I’ve done in-depth research on the go.
Before I look at the breed, it’s very important to look at the immediate parents. To better determine how well behaved your dog will be.
If you decided to mix a well-behaved fun and loving golden retriever with an aggressive Siberian Husky.
Will then even if the breed is commonly known to be very fun and outdoors. You may still potentially be digging yourself a big hole of problems.
A few things to consider
As well as taking a look at the parents as this will help you determine what you can expect from your puppy when they become an adult. When we talk about the Siberian husky, you will find that they are usually very willing to learn.
The problem that you may face is the fact that if they are not stimulated by the task then they can easily become bored.
In a worst-case scenario, boredom will result in them not wanting to participate and simply walking off. Or you may find that they do take part inside of the training but then decided to not apply anything later on.
Is this a family dog?
My simple answer to this question would be an immediate yes. These dogs are very fun loving and caring.. And take pride in performing tasks for the owners. They are genuinely good around children and there have been no reports as to any incidents as of yet.
I would highly recommend this dog for any type of family that considers themselves to be outdoors. Reason being for this is simply based around the fact that these dogs need to be very highly active throughout each and every day.
Lastly will cover the topic of where you can purchase a beautiful Golden pup.
How to buy this dog
As of now, there are many private breeders that you can find a crusty internet. You will usually find them to be a lot cheaper than going to a reputable breeder. There are many pros and cons to using this technique of making a purchase for your pup.
One of the coins being the fact that you could end up buying a dog that has not had jabs, no certificate or records of parents.
Be careful with private breeders
I would highly recommend that you check out the official American Kennel Club (AKC) website. To see what kind of these things they are and where you can purchase from. There are many different variations in prices that can be found across the internet with the highest-peaking at around $2000 +.
It all depends on demand and the location of where you purchase two what price you can expect to pay. If you find that this is too expensive for you then you can go down the potential route of adoption.
The beautiful golden husky has been around for almost two decades now and up to this date still stunts dog lovers like me. These beautiful designer dogs don’t come cheap and if you do decide to buy one then I highly recommend you use A reputable breeder.
